Expanded in the 16th century into a fortress to guard against invaders, this ruined city is an impressive historical monument. It is known for its unique acoustics - sounds travel distances here that will surprise you. Built on a hill, the top of the fort offers great views of the entire complex and the surrounding countryside. There is also a sound and light show most evenings that is worth checking out. Near the Golconda Fort are the Qutub Shahi Tombs which shouldn't be missed.
